This course provides students with the essential skills and knowledge to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies, following first aid guidelines set by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other national clinical bodies.

It is designed for individuals who may need to provide first aid in various environments, including workplaces and community settings.

Training & Assessment delivered on behalf of ABC First Aid

Delivery Method:

  • Face-to-face training with required pre-course learning.

Duration:

  • Minimum 2 hours face-to-face.
  • With Asthma & Anaphylaxis: Minimum 4 hours face-to-face.

Prerequisites:

  • No formal prerequisites are required.
  • Participants should have basic English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.

Entry Requirements for Express Course:

  • Participants must have previously completed HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation within the last 12 months.
  • A copy of the expiring Statement of Attainment must be provided on the day of training.

Training Requirements:

  • The course includes theoretical instruction, hands-on practice, and real-world scenarios.

Assessment:

  • Participants will complete a knowledge test and practical assessments, demonstrating proficiency in CPR and first aid techniques.
  • Those undertaking Asthma & Anaphylaxis training will also be assessed on recognising and managing these conditions in simulated environments.

Course Renewal:

  • The Statement of Attainment is valid for 12 months.
  • CPR training must be renewed annually to maintain certification*.

Upon successful completion, students will receive the following nationally recognised unit(s) issued by ABC Licence Training Pty Ltd (RTO 3399):

  • HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

With additional training in Asthma and Anaphylaxis:

  • 22578VIC – Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis
  • 22556VIC – Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace
