Course Description

Basic Life Support (BLS)

This comprehensive basic life support course offers scenario-based education and competency assessment in CPR. It’s ideal for first responders and healthcare professionals dealing with clinical emergencies like cardiac arrest and anaphylaxis. Successful completion ensures CPR Certification.

CPR requirements covered 

The Basic Life Support course covers each step in the DRSABCD algorithm as per the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines. It also includes managing collapsed patients, anaphylaxis treatment, and techniques for optimising outcomes in cardiac/respiratory arrests.

Engage in case-based eLearning with video demonstrations to master skills in providing CPR, using AEDs, and managing anaphylaxis in both adult and paediatric patients. This self-paced learning fits any schedule with an estimated completion time of 2 hours.

 

BLS Practical Component – Demonstrating CPR Proficiency 

Please note that the Practical Component – Demonstrating CPR Proficiency – must be demonstrated on a MANIKIN ONLY

Successful completion of this course includes demonstration of the basic life support algorithm (DRSABCD), CPR and use of AED. You will need to perform 2 minutes of CPR on a manikin, including demonstration of checking for dangers, determining response, sending for help, checking & opening the airway, checking for breathing, performing compressions and ventilations, applying defibrillator pads and demonstrating safe use of a simulated AED.

Target Audience, Accreditation and CPR (BLS) Certification

This Basic Life Support online course is aimed at GPs, Dentists, Radiologists, RNs, ENs, Paramedics, Radiographers, Aged Care professionals and Allied Health Professionals.

This course is formally accredited with the RACGP and ACRRM as an Educational Activity. It also meets RACGP BLS/CPR requirements.
